Location
The student residence Kullenhof is located in the immediate vicinity of the university hospital Uniklinik RWTH Aachen, about 1km from the Dutch border.
A mensa of the Studierendenwerk Aachen and the Melaten campus of the RWTH Aachen University are also nearby.
The dormitory is well connected to the bus network of the city of Aachen via the bus stops “Uniklinik” and “Steppenberg”.
There are many green areas and walking paths for leisure sports in the immediate neighbourhood.
Accommodation
Our residence consists of six houses and is occupied by 480 students. In addition to 321 14-15 m² rooms with washbasins, the Kullenhof also offers 157 rooms with private bathrooms (15-17 m²). Each room contains a desk, wardrobe and shelf. A bed has to be obtained separately. There is a communal kitchen for each room, which is cleaned every weekday by the cleaning staff.

Shopping opportunities
The next supermarket is within walking distance of about 5 minutes. It is open Monday to Saturday until 22:00. In the neighbourhood, you can also reach several discounters by bike or bus. Because of the proximity to the Netherlands, it is also possible to go shopping there and these shops are also open on Sundays.

Who can I contact if something is broken in my room or the shared rooms?
Please contact the janitors. You can reach them via hausmeister@kullenhof.de. Please always provide them with a concrete description of the problem as well as your room number.
Can I sublet my room?
Yes, that is possible. You can find the sublease application at the following link: https://my.netz.ac/sublease
In addition, you need the signatures of the janitors. The best way is to go to them directly and have the application signed in person. You also need the signature of the Allocation Committee. To obtain this, place the already completed application in the Allocation Committee’s mailbox (House 6).
How many people live on each floor?
Generally, 8-16 people live on each floor.
How much is rent?
The single rooms start at €287 per month, and single rooms with their own bathroom start at €323. Electricity and water are included in in both room types.
Our dormitory also offers a 3‑bedroom shared apartment, where the room prices range between €370 and €460.
How big are the rooms?
Rooms with a shared bath are 14-15 square meters, rooms with their own bath are 15-17 square meters.
Do the rooms have their own bathroom?
Our dorm has two types of rooms:
- "Single rooms" (in total: 322) have a washbasin in the room Zimmer and shared showers and toilets on each floor.
- "Singe rooms with bath" (in total: 157) have their own bath with shower and toilet.
In both cases, you'll share the kitchen with your flatmates.
Where can I apply for a room?
You can apply via the application portal of Studierendenwerk Aachen.
Where and when can I cancel my room?
You must submit your notice of termination to your landlord, usually the Studierendenwerk Aachen. The notice period is usually two months. Please always pay attention to the exact conditions in your tenancy agreement.
